Office Workwear Ideas From NYFW
New York Fashion Week has come and gone, but not without leaving us a tonne of fashspiration! Here’s four looks that will seamlessly take you from your desk to Friday night drinks.
1. The printed dress.
Unsure if that brightly printed dress is office-appropriate? Opt for one with a classic silhouette, such as this 60s Peter Pan collared frock, and add a matching blazer and more demure shoes during the day.
2. The long blazer.
A little on the shorter side? Elongate the body by pairing a boxy blazer with a midi-skirt to give the illusion of height. A longer blazer can also work double duty as a cape thrown over the shoulders or a suit jacket with a tailored pair of pants. One thing’s for sure – choose one with a bit of length for that on-trend look.
3. The lace skirt.
Consider this the cooler older sister to the pencil skirt. It’s the same length, but the elaborate lace detailing gives your outfit a feminine vibe that is oh-so perfect for spring. And don’t worry about the lace showing any skin – the length of these skirts are long enough to be meeting appropriate, but billowy enough to keep you cooler on those sunnier days.
4. The coat dress.
While maybe don’t go chopping off the arms of your winter coat, this wardrobe update is a great one for spring because it keeps you cool while looking cool (geddit?). A sleeveless trench can do its thing as an over garment, but when done up, looks super sleek as a dress.
5. The crop top.
For drinks maybe, not surely not for work?! Think again, because the crop top has been reinvented to be chic, sleek, and not showy at all. The trick is to pair yours with a high-waisted bottom to keep the skin at a minimum. Choose a long-sleeved crop for a more professional vibe however – save the cropped tanks for drinks!
